Huntington Beach : Police Hunting Second Suspect in Shoot-Out
A man wanted in connection with a shooting in which a burglary suspect was killed and a Huntington Beach police officer injured was identified Thursday as a parole violator from Los Angeles County.
Christopher Michael Sheean, 23, is wanted on a warrant charging him with murder, armed robbery and attempted murder of a police officer, police said.
Investigators said they believe Sheean, who was paroled from state prison in 1984 after serving two years for burglary and is wanted for parole violations, is the gunman who exchanged shots Saturday night with Sgt. Ed Deuel at a shop on Pacific Coast Highway.
Deuel went to check on a silent burglary alarm at about 10 p.m. and surprised two men inside the store, one of whom opened fire on the officer.
Deuel, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, returned the fire and killed the man, since identified as Thomas Albert Oglesby, 21, of North Hollywood. A convicted armed robber, Oglesby was paroled from state prison March 7.
The second man in the store, believed to have been carrying a sawed-off shotgun, also fired at Deuel before fleeing on foot. Deuel suffered only minor injuries.
