SAVING NETWORK TV: THE PEOPLE RESPOND
The Calendar Letters Page on April 14 appealed--in all semi-seriousness--to the reader-masses for fresh, new ideas to help save network television. The generosity of readers has been ample and heartwarming. The least frivolous contributions are segregated in the box at the right. The rest follow. BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS
So, you want solutions to some of TV’s problems?
1--Present shows should invite stars from the old reruns: T.J. Hooker should have the S.W.A.T. team help him solve a crime, or the Rookies, Adam 12, etc.
2--Movies should combine forces: “Star Trek” helping “Battlestar Galactica” or “Space: 1999” catching up to “Lost in Space” and finding a new planet. I could go on.
3--Invite TV stars from other English-speaking nations to do guest appearances and solve crimes, make comedy, etc.
4--That is just the tip of the iceberg.
