SAVING NETWORK TV: THE PEOPLE RESPOND

The Calendar Letters Page on April 14 appealed--in all semi-seriousness--to the reader-masses for fresh, new ideas to help save network television. The generosity of readers has been ample and heartwarming. The least frivolous contributions are segregated in the box at the right. The rest follow.

OK, I sink to your challenge:

“Citizen Chimp”--A primate inherits a newspaper chain, triggering revenge by Rupert Murdoch.

“Here’s Ernie”--Plot is insignificant as it will be cancelled after four episodes.

“Eunice and the Hun”--A Brooklyn housewife meets a time-traveling barbarian.

“Boise!”--Intrigue and love within a wealthy potato family.

And, for PBS:

“Let’s Make a Quiche” and “I, Beowulf.”

I have more. Really.
