Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley has joined the Trilateral Commission, a group of 200 American, European and Japanese politicians and business leaders headed by retired Chase Bank Chairman David Rockefeller. Bradley will attend the commission’s meeting in Tokyo this week during his 10-day trip to Japan to promote tourism and trade. The commission has been criticized by some right-wing groups which contend that it is the force behind many U.S. and international foreign policy decisions. But Bradley said in a statement: “I am very pleased to serve as a member. . . . I believe that through full discussion of the critical issues facing America, Japan and Europe, we can begin to fashion a future of peace and economic growth for all.”
