Reagan Will Address Nation
President Reagan will press his case for a budget package cutting the rise in Social Security benefits and killing more than a dozen popular federal programs and subsidies in an address to the nation Wednesday, the White House announced today.

The Senate begins voting this week on a series of spending proposals that include a compromise backed by Reagan and the Republican leadership to reduce proposed spending by $52 billion and slow the pace of the Administration’s defense buildup.
