A suspected car thief who grabbed a large tree branch when confronted by the victim had the weapon turned on him and was critically injured and not expected to live. Deputy Mason Kenny said Leodis Charles, 19, saw the man attempting to steal his car outside his home in Willowbrook and gave chase. The suspect grabbed a large tree branch and tried to hit Charles, but the teen-ager grabbed the branch away from the man, and struck him in the head, causing massive injuries, Kenny said.
