Decision on Zoning of Agua Dulce Delayed
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Thursday delayed until May 9 a decision on whether to grant an unusual rural zoning status to the Santa Clarita Valley community of Agua Dulce.
The board delayed its vote on the proposed community standards district after Supervisors Pete Schabarum and Ed Edelman expressed concern over zoning provisions that would prohibit the clustering of homes, a practice allowed in the rest of Los Angeles County.
Edelman asked county regional planners to report on the effect of the proposed standards, which would limit density in Agua Dulce to one dwelling unit per two acres. The standards would prevent the construction of housing tracts.
The proposed standards also would require commercial developments to utilize Old West architecture, would limit street widths to 24 feet and would restrict expansion of the local airport.
