Trade Fair Spotlights Asian Crafts

Share

Artisans demonstrated their crafts at the recently concluded Asian and American Cultural and Trade Fair ’85 at the Pasadena Convention Center and the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The event was sponsored by the Asian American Friendship Assn. Association President Peter Tseng said he hoped the fair would stimulate American trade overseas, especially around the Pacific rim.

“Recent international trade controversies show the wisdom of ‘buying American’ on the part of Asian countries,” Tseng said, adding that American firms should explore exporting their products.

Besides crafts, the trade fair featured demonstrations of martial arts and Asian dancing as well as exhibitions of traditional costumes and cultures from Japan, China, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and India.
