LOS ANGELES COUNTY - News from April 29, 1985

Denny’s Inc., the La Mirada-based restaurant chain that became privately held earlier this year, named a new nine-member board, comprising four company officials and five outside directors.

Company officers are Vern O. Curtis, chairman and president; David H. Bixler, president of the restaurant division; Roger K. Mercier, senior vice president-corporate development, and John D. Radebaugh, senior vice president and chief financial officer. The four were members of the previous board.

Outside directors are: George L. Argyros, a real estate developer in Orange County and major shareholder of AirCal; Jeffrey C. Barbakow, managing director of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in Los Angeles; James O. Boisi, executive vice president of Helmsley Enterprises, a New York hotel and real estate concern; Robert F. Mancuso, managing director of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York, and William R. Zimmerman, president of Zimmerman Holdings Inc.

The company, which in addition to its Denny’s restaurant chain operates or licenses Winchell’s Donut Houses and El Pollo Loco outlets, also named Bruce Evans restaurant division vice president with responsibility for the company’s previously reported franchise-development program.
