“Adam,” a television movie about an abducted and murdered boy, led to the recovery of an 8-year-old Ohio girl in Lake County and the arrest of her father, authorities said. Melissa Klein was found in a “commune-like” settlement about seven miles from the small community of Middletown, about 75 miles north of San Francisco, Sheriff Ray Benevedes said. He said his office received phone calls from two Middletown residents shortly after the Monday night airing of the film on NBC. Photos of dozens of missing children were shown. After officers got search and arrest warrants, they went to the Harbin Springs commune and took the girl into protective custody, arresting her father, John Michael Klein, 44, for investigation of taking her from his former wife in Springfield, Ohio, in June, 1984, the sheriff said.
