Share

A museum of relics from Monterey Park’s past will be opened in Garvey Ranch Park, 781 Orange Ave., with a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Historical Heritage Commission and the Historical Society of Monterey Park are co-sponsors of the Garvey Ranch Museum, which will contain photographs, antique dolls and furniture, school records, period clothing and other reminders of the city’s early days.

The museum occupies a room in the Garvey Ranch building, which also contains a planetarium that was established by Dick Garvey, whose father founded Monterey Park. The museum will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The opening ceremony will include remarks by Councilman Rudy Peralta and tours led by volunteer docents.
