Teen-agers and young adults looking for jobs in areas such as sales, computers, food preparation or equipment repair can apply for employment through two Anaheim youth programs.

The city’s Youth Job Training Program has two placement outlets, the Tryout Employment and the Summer Youth Employment programs.

Tryout Employment is a year-round program for residents ages 16 to 21, who are trained by companies and sometimes offered permanent positions, said Ruben Aceves, youth services operation supervisor. The Summer Youth Employment Program begins June 17. It is for people ages 14 to 21 looking for temporary jobs.

“It can offer them a real job opportunity program. They can pick up some extra spending money and be trained while being paid,” Aceves said.

About 450 companies have pledged jobs to the training program, which began about a year and a half ago, Aceves said. Applications can be picked up in Room 36 of the Trident Community Center, 1800 W. Ball Road.
