Kurt Meyer to Be Honored at Scholarship Dinner

Architect Kurt Meyer will be honored Wednesday at the Hotel Bel-Air at the Southern California Institute of Architecture’s fifth annual scholarship dinner-dance.

Tax-deductible proceeds from the event will go toward a new scholarship fund established by Meyer to benefit SCI-ARC students.

Born and educated in Zurich, Switzerland, Meyer began his professional career in the United States in 1948, and established his own practice in 1957. The firm of Kurt Meyer & Associates celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1982, and, with the addition of a new partner, became known as Kurt Meyer Partners.

Meyer served on the board of the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency from 1973 to 1979, and was a participant in the Goals project of the Los Angeles City Planning Department. He has also been a director of the Southern California chapter, American Institute of Architects, Hollywood YMCA, Wilshire Chamber of Commerce and Architectural Guild of USC. He has been a member of the Dean’s Circle of the UCLA School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha Honorary Land Economics Society, American Planning Assn., Los Angeles Conservancy and National Trust for Historic Preservation.
