Pakistan Police Regain Hospital From Students
Police stormed a government hospital in Karachi on Tuesday after protesting medical students had locked themselves inside, a magistrate said.
“There was no resistance,” according to the magistrate of the 1,350-bed civil hospital in the center of Pakistan’s largest city.
The students had occupied the hospital Monday and locked its gates in protest after a military court sentenced medical student Azim Qureshi to one year in jail and 15 lashes for pasting up wallposters criticizing the army and police.
More than 100 policemen were posted around the hospital Tuesday.
