An alleged member of a neo-Nazi hit squad suspected of the machine-gun slaying of Alan Berg, liberal Denver radio talk show host, pleaded not guilty in Seattle to two federal counts of racketeering. U.S. Magistrate Philip Sweigert set a trial date of June 17 for David Lane, 46, of Denver. A 20-count federal grand jury indictment handed down in Seattle April 12 named Lane as being one of five persons who planned and carried out the June 18, 1984, murder of Berg, an acerbic radio personality who frequently baited right-wing extremists on his show.
