Toxic Fumes Send 45 to Hospital

TORONTO —
A plant worker accidentally mixed nitric acid and alcohol today, generating a cloud of highly toxic fumes that sent 45 people to the hospital, police said.
The affected workers were taken to three hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not known, although several of the victims were reported to be in serious condition, police said.
