There is a single from Prince’s new album, “Around the World in a Day,” after all: “Raspberry Beret.” It came out last week and predictably, it’s off to a blazing start, debuting on the Billboard magazine pop singles chart at No. 37. The album, which entered the chart last week at No. 14, moved up to No. 5.

Phil Collins’ “No Jacket Required,” a former No. 1 album, is back on top again, dethroning “We Are the World.” . . . Howard Jones’ “Dream into Action,” which appeared to have peaked at No. 34, rallied and climbed 10 places to No. 24. It has Top 10 potential. . . . “Songs From the Big Chair” (No. 12), by Tears For Fears, should be in the Top 10 next week.

SINGLES: Simple Minds’ has its first No. 1 single with “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” . . . Next week Billy Ocean should have his third Top 10 single from the “Suddenly” album. This week the album’s title single is No. 11. Also bubbling under the Top 10: Howard Jones’ “Things Can Only Get Better” (No. 15) and the Mary Jane Girls’ “In My House” (No. 16). . . . Hot newcomers: John Cafferty’s “Tough All Over” (No. 44) and Kim Carnes’ “Crazy in the Night (Barking at Airplanes)” (No. 51). . . . Debuts: Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill” (No. 43) and Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies ‘r’ Good Enough” (No. 45). Both should eventually make the Top 10.
