The Simi Valley maker of data communications equipment said it also laid off an undisclosed number of part-timers in the wake of lower-than-expected sales and earnings for its fiscal year ended March 31. Micom, which had about 2,000 full-time employees in California and New England before the layoffs, said staff reductions have been made in both places. Despite the cuts, the company said it will continue to add to its research and development and its sales staffs.
