A teen-ager who was arrested for his part in a Lynwood-area shooting spree, but escaped by hitting a sheriff’s deputy over the head with partially fastened handcuffs, was recaptured in Santa Ana. Details of how the 16-year-old boy, a suspected gang member, was captured were not immediately available, but he had been the object of an intensive search throughout the weekend, sheriff’s deputies said. Deputy Christina Polak had interviewed the teen-ager at the Lynwood sheriff’s station and was replacing his handcuffs when he broke free and used the partially fastened cuff as a weapon against Polak, Sgt. Steve Finley said. Polak needed more than 30 stitches to close five scalp cuts.
