The San Diego-based company said it has received Agriculture Department approval to market ViraChek/FeLV, which can test for leukemia in cats in a simple, 20-minute test. Synbiotics President Edward T. Maggio said ViraChek/FeLV, which is quicker than existing tests, could capture a quarter of the estimated $25-million to $30-million testing market. Up to 3% of the nation’s estimated 53 million cats are believed to have feline leukemia.
