A calm Jesse de la Rosa was taken to a holding cell near the Texas death chamber in Huntsville to await his scheduled execution after his attorneys lost a last-minute U.S. Supreme Court appeal and Gov. Mark White refused a reprieve to spare his life. De la Rosa, 24, faces death by injection before dawn today for the slaying of a convenience store clerk in a 1979 San Antonio robbery that netted a six-pack of beer.
