The tiny town of Tudor was sold at auction Saturday for $175,000 to Robert Veach of Sacramento.

Veach, who said he spends summers in Anchorage, Alaska, would not say what he plans to do with the town, located about 30 miles north of Sacramento and 11 miles south of Yuba City.

“So I bought a town. I’m going to surprise my wife tonight,” he said after auctioneer Vance Van Tassell accepted his bid.

It was the 15th bid called out by about three bidders in the crowd of nearly 500 present for the auction of 48 properties in 18 counties owned by Golden Plan of California and Capital Mortgage and Loan Inc., two defunct real estate investment firms.

The 1.4-acre town includes a restaurant, a commercial building, a storage building and three small cabins.
