Library Open Space

Share

As per Sam Kaplan’s column (April 21)--please do not let them do it. Taking away any of our open space in the central city would be a crime.

Growing up in Los Angeles, I recall my many visits to the Central Library which was surrounded by beautiful gardens and the play of water. This was removed on the west side of the building to make way for blacktop parking.

Now the city has the opportunity to reverse the mistakes made around the library, and create again the open space that Bertram Goodhue intended it to be for all of us to delight in.

Please do not let any open space fall into the hands of the planners who from past experience did not know what they were doing.
