Traffic as Slow as Molasses
Motorists were stuck on the Golden State Freeway in more ways than one this morning when a tanker truck was rear-ended at 3:30 a.m. and spilled 29,000 pounds of molasses near Castaic Lake. The tanker driver, apparently struck from behind by a semi-truck, suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized, CHP Officer Richard Perez said.
Caltrans’ clean-up recipe called for the addition of 3,000 pounds of sand to three lanes of the freeway to soak up the mess. By 6 a.m., the freeway was spic and span again, more or less.
