Kristina Borchardt, a senior English major at Scripps College in Claremont, has been named a 1985 Thomas J. Watson Fellow. The fellowship, which carries a $10,000 grant, is awarded to students committed to a particular field of interest and who show potential leadership qualities. Borchardt will use the grant to study the women’s small press movement in Europe and Africa.

Dr. Richard Bing has been awarded a $10,350 Lindbergh research grant by the board of directors of the Charles A. Lindbergh Fund. Bing, who works at the Huntington Medical Research Institutes in Pasadena, will use the grant to conduct coronary blood vessel studies.

Jack Stark, president of Clarenmont McKenna College, has been elected chairman of the board of directors at Pomona Valley Community Hospital. Stark has been a hospital board member for eight years.

Armene Chavdarian has been named principal of New Lexington Elementary School in El Monte. Chavdarian replaces William Oster, who will work for the El Monte City School District.

Dr. Juan Antonio Realyvasquez of Glendora has been named chief of staff at San Dimas Community Hospital. Realyvasquez, an orthopedist, has been at the hospital for eight years.
