Burbank Names 3 to Airport Authority

Burbank Mayor Mary Lou Howard and Margie Gee, who has been active in protesting airport noise, have been appointed to Burbank’s delegation on the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority. They will replace commissioners William Rudell and Ella Lustig, who were ousted from the airport authority Tuesday by the Burbank City Council.

The council also reappointed former City Councilman Leland Ayers to the agency. Ayers is a founding member of the authority, which governs the airport and is made up of three delegates each from Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena.

The ouster of Rudell marks the end of his ties to Burbank government and the authority, which he also helped to form in 1977. Rudell resigned as city attorney last week under pressure from the newly constituted Burbank City Council.

Lustig had served on the authority for four years.

Howard and Gee will assume their new posts on June 1.
