Fullerton : Memorial Day Program Will Be Held at Park
Wooden white crosses and American flags will be placed on more than 2,100 graves Monday during the 47th annual Memorial Day program at Loma Vista Memorial Park.
Congressman William E. Dannemeyer will be the keynote speaker at the cemetery, where the Memorial Day programs began in 1939. More than 500 large flags on loan from the families of servicemen and women will line the annual Avenue of Flags.
Sponsored by the American Veterans Memorial Assn., the commemoration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Fullerton cemetery on Bastanchury Road, west of Brea Boulevard.
Mayor Alan (Buck) Catlin will be the master of ceremonies and Grif Duncan, general manager of the Fullerton Civic Light Opera, will be the guest vocalist. The Rev. Terry Wallin, pastor of the Community Baptist Church of Yorba Linda, will offer the opening and closing prayers.
