Sellers’ Widow Gets $1 Million

The widow of actor Peter Sellers won a $1-million award today in a lawsuit against makers of “Trail of the Pink Panther”--a movie made after Sellers died and consisting mostly of discarded clips from earlier portrayals of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau.

Judge Charles Hobhouse ruled that United Artists and director Blake Edwards breached their contract with Sellers by using the clips from earlier Pink Panther movies and awarded the damages to Lynn Frederick. But he refused to halt further showing of the film.
