Court OKs Advisers’ Privacy

Records and meetings of the Council of Economic Advisers are not open to the public because the body’s sole purpose is to advise the President, a federal appeals court ruled today.

The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, in a 3-0 decision, affirmed a lower court ruling that the economic advisory group is exempt from the Freedom of Information Act and the Government in the Sunshine Act.
