Retailers who want to sell tickets for the soon-to-be-launched California Lottery may pick up applications beginning Friday at State Board of Equalization and state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control offices throughout the state, according to Lottery Director M. Mark Michalko. Applications also will be available by writing the California State Lottery, 1303 J Street, Suite 600, Sacramento, Calif., 95814 or by calling (916) 323-PLAY. Any retailer 18-years-old or older may sell tickets as long as merchandising lottery tickets is not his or her sole business activity. Retailers will receive a 5% commission on the sales price of all instant “scratch off” tickets sold. Michalko said those interested should apply as soon as possible. Selection of eligible ticket sellers will be made solely by lottery officials.
