The setting is Paris, just before World War II. One night, a fugitive German doctor meets an unemployed actress on a bridge near Notre Dame. They fall in love . . . and thus unfolds the story of “Arch of Triumph,” a new TV movie airing Wednesday at 9 p.m. on CBS (Channels 2, 8).

Anthony Hopkins and Lesley-Anne Down (pictured) play the principal roles, with Donald Pleasence, Frank Finlay and Richard Pasco also in the cast. The movie was filmed in and around Paris and in Bristol, England.
