The Bellflower Unified School District Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss an investigation by the California School Board Assn. into allegations that trustee Peggy Turner improperly used her position to gain entrance to a teacher’s locked office and looked at confidential files.

The association, which represents about 96% of the state’s school boards, has been asked by the Bellflower board to look into allegations that Turner last month entered Bellflower High School’s student activities office, got a secretary to unlock the director’s office and looked at a copy of the school’s pep squad constitution, which had been stored in a file drawer that also contained confidential student files.

Turner has denied allegations that she entered the office improperly April 11. She said she looked at the pep squad constitution but not at confidential files.

Cindy Aimerito, pep squad adviser, has said that when she found Turner in her office, the file drawers were open and Turner was holding a copy of the constitution.

“The board will define the perimeters of the fact-finding procedures” to be used by the school board association, said Supt. Kenneth Davis. He said the board members will ask questions of the association investigation team, which is expected to schedule dates for the probe.

Richard Montgomery, director of field services for the association, said the group perhaps will make recommendations to the district, but has no authority to compel the district to follow them.
