Police Chief Ted Cooke has been elected first vice president of the California Police Chiefs Assn.

Antioch Police Chief Leonard Herendeen was elected president of the association, which is made up of municipal police administrators in California.

Cooke, who has served in Los Angeles County law enforcement for 29 years, became chief of police in Culver City in 1976 after a career with the Los Angeles Police Department.

He holds a doctor of law degree and is an adviser at both West Los Angeles College and Rio Hondo Police Academy.

He is a member of the Governor’s Committee of Medical Protocol and has served on the Governor’s Task Force on Narcotics.
