Can’t television get anything right? The thing that made Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons fascinating was the absurd power these two exerted over the world’s most glamorous industry, not their petty personal squabbles with their children and each other. “Malice in Wonderland” had the makings of a great screwball comedy, but it was just another soggy soap. It didn’t help that the actor playing Joseph Cotten looked more like Orson Welles than the guy playing Welles did.
