Ramona
Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified man found Sunday.
The man, described as white and in his late 20s or early 30s, was found on a building site along California 67 in Ramona by the property’s owner. The man appeared to have been shot and beaten, said Sgt. Rick Figueroa of the sheriff’s homicide unit.
Figueroa said investigators tried to trace the man’s fingerprints by computer Monday but were unable to make a positive identification. The sheriff’s department hopes to have the man identified by Wednesday, he said.
The cause of death is unknown, pending an investigation by coroner’s deputies.
