Striking salmon fishermen, angry over reduced prices, kept their boats tied up for the sixth day along the California and Oregon coasts after failing to reach agreement with buyers. Trollers able to find buyers at the old price of up to $2.80 a pound for large salmon went out, while most of the 2,000 striking fishermen met with their local associations to discuss the impasse. “There’s no new price, so we’re just sitting out,” said Russ Wilson after a board meeting of the Bodega Bay Fishermen’s Assn. The old price was $2.80 a pound on large salmon (11 pounds and up), $2.40 on medium (7 to 11 pounds) and $2 on smaller fish. The new prices that took hold last Wednesday are $2.40, $2 and $1.50, respectively.
