Patricia Johansen resigned from the Palos Verdes Unified School District Board of Education, effective June 17, after five years as a trustee. She will move to Washington late this month with her husband, Wilford Johansen, who has been appointed by President Reagan to the National Labor Relations Board.

In another development this week, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge postponed a hearing on a lawsuit filed by opponents of the district’s decision to close the Margate Intermediate School. The lawsuit challenges an environmental impact report filed by the district in the process of revising its intermediate school attendance boundaries. No new hearing date was set.

Twelve nonteaching positions will be eliminated as a result of the Margate closure, for a saving of about $178,000, district officials said. Employees losing their jobs are a secretary, two typists, a health clerk, three writing aides and two custodians.
