Santa Monica has installed five audible traffic signals to aid blind and visually impaired people.
The City Council allocated $16,000 to install signals at Arizona and Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard and Ocean, Broadway and Ocean, Wilshire Boulevard and 4th Street, and Colorado and Ocean.
The signals make a sound in conjunction with the “walk” phase of the traffic signal.
