The International Soccer Federation declared an indefinite world wide ban on all English club teams in the wake of a riot involving British fans at a Brussels stadium last week in which 38 people were killed and hundreds injured. General Secretary Joseph Blatter told a news conference in Zurich that the ban includes professional teams in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales. He said the ban does not apply to the English national team.
