Share

Bob Comara, a veteran La Cienega area art dealer who lent encouragement to such local artists as Corita Kent, Max Cole, Robert Hansen, Paul Darrow and others, has died after suffering a stroke in his Eagle Rock home.

From 1958 to 1977 he and his late wife, Mary, ran the Comara Gallery which opened originally on Beverly Boulevard, then moved to La Cienega Boulevard and when it closed was located on Melrose Avenue.

The Comaras were credited with being among the first to feature their artists in area jazz clubs, particularly the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach.
