A Simi Valley man was fatally wounded early Wednesday morning when his sister-in-law stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife, a spokesman for the Simi Valley Police Department said.

Simi Valley police Detective Tony Harper said Francisco Ortega, 25, apparently was attacked by his sister-in-law, Michelle Scott, at 1 a.m. Wednesday during an argument. Scott, 19, admitted the stabbing after she was arrested on suspicion of murder, Harper said. She was held at the Ventura County Women’s Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Harper said Ortega apparently angered Scott when he hit his wife, Madeline, during an argument early Tuesday evening. The argument flared again early Wednesday morning, when the stabbing occurred, Harper said. The victim lived with his wife and sister-in-law in a house on Kadota Street in Simi Valley, Harper said.
