Car Attack on Bikers Brings Murder Charge

Share

Murder and attempted murder charges were filed Friday against a Pacoima man who allegedly used his car to attack five motorcyclists last week.

Deputy Dist. Atty. John Spillane said Marco Nunez, 23, faces four counts of attempted murder and one count of murder for allegedly swerving his compact car deliberately into the path of three motorcycles. Five people were riding the vehicles along Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima at 1:30 a.m. on June 6.

Nunez’s car struck two of the motorcycles, killing a woman and seriously injuring a man who had been riding together, Los Angeles Police Detective Robert Muldrew said. He said the rider of the second motorcycle that was hit escaped injury. The third motorcycle, which was not struck, carried two people, he said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Nunez, but police believe he may have fled the area, Muldrew said.

“Apparently, he didn’t like bikers,” the detective said. “We are not treating this as a traffic accident. It was an intentional murder.”

Nunez drove away from the crash, Muldrew said.

Muldrew identified the dead woman as Rebecca Wiltshire, 28, of San Fernando
