Board to Consider Harness Racing
The California Horse Racing Board will meet Friday in Inglewood to consider a proposal to allow harness races at the Pomona Fairgrounds.
A bill pending in the Legislature would permit harness racing at the fairgrounds 25 weeks a year. At issue is whether such races would compete unfairly with races at other tracks in the area, including Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia. The board will hear arguments for and against the bill from track owners and other horse racing interests.
The public meeting is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. in the Pavilion of Stars at Hollywood Park race track.
