The San Diego County Health Department confirmed Saturday that a cook at a downtown San Diego restaurant has been diagnosed as having infectious hepatitis Type A.
People who ate at Johnny’s No. 1, 314 Broadway, June 1 to June 4 and June 7 to June 11, during the hours of 4 p.m. to midnight, may have been exposed to the illness, said Dr. Michele Ginsberg, a spokeswoman for the county health department.
People who ate at the restaurant during those times are advised to see a physician as soon as possible about the need for a gamma globulin shot.
The antibodies in gamma globulin are effective only if it is given within two weeks of exposure, Ginsberg said.
Initial symptoms of hepatitis include sudden onset of fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea and jaundice.
