Fullerton : Man Stabbed in Chest in Standoff With Mugger
A Fullerton man was knifed when he refused to give his wallet to a robber and was in stable condition Monday at UCI Medical Center, a hospital representative said.
Jose Antonio Gonzales, 39, was approached by a man described as about 18 years old behind the Allen Hotel, 412 S. Harbor Blvd., at about 3:32 a.m. Monday. Fullerton police said the robber demanded Gonzales’ wallet at knifepoint and, when Gonzalez refused to turn it over, stabbed him twice in the chest.
Paramedics took Gonzales to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he underwent surgery later Monday morning.
