Petty Officer Arrested in Fatal Ship Stabbing

NEWPORT, R.I. —
A communications petty officer was arrested Wednesday and charged in the weekend stabbing death of a reserve officer aboard the frigate Miller, Navy investigators said.
Petty Officer Mitchell Garraway Jr. was taken into custody by the Naval Investigative Service and charged in the death of Lt. James Sterner. Sterner was stabbed in the back Sunday night when the ship was at sea. The motive for the attack was not disclosed.
