Rookie running back Curtis Adams, the Chargers’ eighth-round draft pick last April, has signed a series of one-year contracts with the club, team officials said.

“He’s an exceptional pass receiver and very elusive,” Charger Coach Don Coryell said Wednesday. “He should be a good threat out of the backfield.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In four seasons at Central Michigan University, Adams rushed 761 times for 4,162 yards. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry and scored 43 touchdowns.
