Gilbert Cates was reelected to his second two-year term as president of the Directors Guild of America at the national convention Saturday.
Cates, 51, was elected unanimously by the 72 delegates on hand for the convention, which meets every two years. During his first term, Cates won wide praise for securing a range of new minimums for low-budget productions and for advances made in areas of affirmative action and worker safety on the set. He will oversee next year’s 50th anniversary.
