Two airlines won government approval to merge.
The Transportation Department approved the proposed merger between Southwest Airlines and Muse Air. Last week, Southwest’s Washington attorney, Paul Seligson, said the carrier might consider withdrawing from the merger if the department did not issue its approval by last Friday. A Transportation Department spokesman said the department issued a final order approving the merger “with no conditions” late Monday afternoon.
