A 5-year-old Baldwin Park boy was thrown from his parents’ car and killed in a collision allegedly caused by a driver who ran a red light near Azusa, the California Highway Patrol said. Investigators believe driver Kenneth Fulayter, 47, of Upland, failed to stop for the red light because he was looking for a telephone booth. The child, Joseph Medina, was riding in the back of his parents’ small station wagon when the car was broadsided by Fulayter. Fulayter, who escaped injury, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor manslaughter.
